ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) -The fire that broke out in Ruidoso, New Mexico damaged people’s homes and their belongings.

The Odessa Chuck Wagon gang is planning to go to Ruidoso to support the people who were affected.

The Odessa Chuck Wagon gang is planning to serve food to the Ruidoso community.

They’re asking for help from the community to help raise the money for their trip.

The Odessa Chuck Wagon gang received a phone call from the Ruidoso mayor asking if they could put together an event.

They will be feeding the community their very own West Texas barbecue to help show support.

“Much devastation those folks have seen from the fires and the floods. It was a no-brainer for us. If we can get the money together, we got to go and show them the support from all of us.” said Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang boss Robert Rogers.

The Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang is aiming to raise fifty thousand dollars for the event.

They are hoping to have the support from the community.

“Ruidoso is almost like a sister city and is a vacation destination for many folks here. A lot of folks here have a home. It is the right thing to do. It’s a good thing to go up there and spread goodwill.” said former Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang boss Steve Hurt.

The Odessa Chuck Wagon is expected to serve between three thousand to thirty-five hundred people.

They have helped out communities that have been affected by natural disasters before and Ruidoso might be the biggest relief effort for the Chuck Wagon Gang.

“For this type of relief, this is as far as I know I don’t have records past my eighteen years in the organization. this will be the largest disaster relief feed we’ve done.” said Robert Rogers.

Rogers believes the time is right to help the Ruidoso community.

“We donate our time to do this. None of us is paid to do any of this but we give up our time. we need to go do this. It is the right thing to do if we can all make it happen, we are going to make it happen.” said Robert Rogers.

The non-profit received a ten-thousand-dollar donation to help fund their trip.
